Anne-Sophie

Anne-Sophie Ville, a Belgian native, started dancing Argentine Tango in Washington DC and in very short time became one of the main tango organizers in this community as well as a highly sought after dancer and instructor.

She has studied with many of the great dancers of our day: Fabian Salas, Gustavo Naveira, Pablo Veron, Chicho Frumboli, Julio and Corina, Jean-Sebastien Rampazzi, Mauricio Castro, and the late Carlos Gavito, only to name a few.

During many years, Anne-Sophie continued to sharpen her dancing skills assisting these and the other great tango instructors she invited each year to instruct and visit with the DC-Baltimore tango community. She is also spending a few months each year in Buenos Aires to immerse herself in the Tango Culgture.

Anne-Sophie is recognized for her skills as both a follower and leader. She is also known as a dancer of all styles: a true milonguera when she dances close-embrace and a fluid and innovative tanguera when she dances the "Nuevo Tango" style in open embrace.

Anne-Sophie is the founder and organizer of the Washington DC Tango Marathon , one of the best and most highly attended tango festivals in the United States, attracting over 300 dancers from the US and Europe each year for 4 days of non-stop dancing and organized of the Baltimore Tango Fest that brought to the East coast Mariano Chicho Frumboli, Mariana Dragone, Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes .

In 2007, she decided to leave the United States and travel the world to dance and teach tango. She is now visiting tango communities over the world to share her enthusiasm and love of the dance. She might be coming soon to your community!

Josh Rigley is an Athlete who found dance combined all of the things he most enjoys. Josh comes from years of athletics and has a background of social dancing. After teaching all types of social dances for many years, he chose to focus on just a few styles of dance. “There are common elements related with your body and movement regardless of the discipline.” “ Tango is unique among social dances and offers the most freedom for me.”

He spent 4 months in Buenos Aires last year to immerse himself in the culture of the tango. During this time he practiced, danced and took classes with the best dancers and instructors that Buenos Aires offers, not limiting himself to one style of dancing but exploring all the possibilities of THE Argentine Tango: Villa Urquiza style, Milonguero and Nuevo tango.

Now Josh is in Buenos Aires again practicing and still taking classes from a variety of teachers. “One thing I hope to share is the importance of being open minded to learn. To keep growing.” Josh has a very personal approach to teaching the tango; mixing musicality, to body awareness and concepts to bring the students to a nice level of dancing in just a few hours of learning.

Anne-Sophie and Pablo

As teachers and performers, Anne-Sophie and Pablo bring the dynamic, eclectic nature of the tango front and center. Hallmarks of the traditional tango style, like the partners’ deep connection and elegant movements, mingle effortlessly in their dances with the athletic power and speed of the nuevo style—which makes for performances as subtle as they are thrilling. As teachers, Anne-Sophie and Pablo take the time to explain all the complex details clearly, sharing their rich experience of technique with every student. And with the energy and youthful vitality they bring to all they do, they never forget to emphasize the tango’s playful nature. Above all, they want their students to have as much fun as they do, from the very first class.
